Pine State Systems was founded by Eric Ciborowski to give Maine businesses the kind of IT support usually reserved for big companies, without the big-company runaround.
Why we exist
Big-company IT, without the runaround.
Small and mid-sized businesses in Maine usually end up with one of two kinds of IT: a part-time helper who fixes things after they break, or a large provider where you're a ticket number to someone who has never seen your office. Neither one plans ahead, and neither one is accountable for the whole picture.
Pine State Systems is built to be different. We take responsibility for everything that plugs in or logs in, from the help desk and network to security, backups, phones and custom software. When you call, you get someone who knows your setup, from Portland to Presque Isle, and can be at your door if needed.
Meet the founder
Eric Ciborowski
Founder
Eric is a seasoned IT leader who has worked on both sides of the table: years at a managed service provider, and time as an in-house Director of Technology. That mix gives him a rare view of IT. He knows how to deliver services to many clients at once, and he also knows what it takes to own an organization’s technology day to day, answering to leadership, staff and end users.
He has led some of the most demanding projects in the field. These include Microsoft 365 migrations that moved whole organizations to the cloud with little disruption, data center consolidations that cut cost and complexity, and Zero Trust security rollouts that tightened access without slowing people down. When things have gone wrong, Eric has been the one leading ransomware recovery, restoring systems and getting organizations back to work under pressure.
His experience covers healthcare, education, legal and corrections. Each of these fields has strict compliance rules, sensitive data and little tolerance for downtime. Working across them has taught him to balance security, regulation and practical needs, and to explain technical risk in terms that decision-makers can act on.
What sets Eric apart is that he works at both levels. He can get hands-on with servers, networks and security settings like a senior engineer, and he can also build roadmaps, budgets and long-term strategy like an executive. Clients get someone who understands the big picture and can also make sure the details are done right.
At Pine State Systems, Eric brings that same results-first approach to every client. He focuses on clear goals, honest communication and measurable outcomes, so the technology is reliable, secure and supports the organization’s goals.
